Fixed Term One Year Contract / Maternity Cover (from 27th August 2018)

Based at the Distillery on Wheatfield Road, Edinburgh, with potential travel to West Lothian warehousing complex.

 

An opportunity has arisen through maternity cover to join the Company’s Finance Department in the role of Assistant Management Accountant. The position will involve supporting the department in all aspects of financial management including preparing monthly management accounts, weekly returns and other required regulatory reporting, as well as supporting managers and other key employees to financially manage the business.
 

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Production of the monthly Finance Review, monthly Management Accounts and Weekly Return, within the agreed timetables, ensuring accuracy and completeness, and communicating the final agreed reports to relevant managers and budget holders. Ensuring a full understanding of material variances to assist in resolving any queries from report users. Presenting monthly results to Finance Director/Financial Controller.
  • Accurate processing of monthly journals (e.g. accruals, prepayment, stock) and obtaining the required relevant returns from users/departments, including staff shop stock reconciliation. Preparation of monthly schedules detailing balance sheet reconciliations e.g. accruals, prepayment and stock.
  • Communicating and interpreting financial data to non-financial managers and budget holders, liaising closely when required to put finances and accounts in context. Responding to ad-hoc enquiries as well as carrying out feasibility studies and budget analyses where required.
  • Complete quarterly payroll audits and prepare summary of findings and detailed documentation.
  • Prepare government returns and management and development/automation of other required financial / statistical returns and spreadsheets within designated time frames.

 

To succeed in this role, the following skills and attributes are desirable:

  • Minimum 5 years Accountancy experience required
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, is essential
  • Excellent communication skills, with a customer-focused approach
  • Strong planning and organisation skills, with the ability to adapt to changing business needs
  • An engaging, proactive and motivated approach
  • Attention to detail and pride in delivering a professional standard of work.
