Dayshift Production Operator - Edinburgh

We have an excellent opportunity for a Dayshift Production Operator to join our manufacturing team in 2022.  This will be a permanent full time role based at our Edinburgh Distillery.  The position involves performing multiple roles across the Distillery, carrying out duties to safe and legally compliant standards, aiding in the efficient operation of the Company. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to all relevant Company health, safety and environmental policies and procedures applicable to the duties of a Dayshift Production Operator.
  • Actively participate in all measures and tasks to improve overall health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Operating all aspects of the process they are involved in to achieve the optimised throughput according to the daily and weekly production plans.
  • Completion of systematic housekeeping tasks and inspections across the production areas, and the reporting and logging of findings, including escalation of issues as necessary.
  • Monitoring equipment reliability and performance, reporting variances and raising job requests as necessary to initiate corrective maintenance activity.
  • Carrying out cleaning and painting duties where required.
  • Assisting with the removal and recycling of any spills.
  • Monitor the condition of the skips in the distillery yard.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activity through the suggestion of possible improvements, participation in, and support of, focussed improvement teams.
  • Dayshift Production Operators will be trained in multiple roles across the Distillery, Feeds Plant and Tank Farm to provide the sufficient capability and flexibility required by the Company. Employees will be trained and their competence assessed before being signed off for any given activity.

Requirements for this role includes:   

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a high volume / speed manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Basic PC Skills: Email, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Trained, competent and experienced in Permit to Work systems, risk assessments and method statements
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team (with both internal and external contacts)
  • Good communication skills
  • A positive attitude with the desire to expand their skill set
