Distillery Operators - Fixed Term Contract - Edinburgh

We have an excellent opportunity for 2 Distillery Shift Operators to join our manufacturing team in 2022.  These will be on a fixed term basis for 6 months and 12 months respectively, based at our Edinburgh Distillery.  These positions involve performing multiple roles across the Distillery, carrying out duties to safe and legally compliant standards, aiding in the efficient operation of the Company.  This will be working 12 hours on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, alternating between sets of days and nights.

General Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to all relevant Company health, safety and environmental policies and procedures applicable to the duties of a Production Operator.
  • Actively participate in all measures and tasks to improve overall health, safety and environmental performance.
  • To monitor and control the operations within their area of responsibility, identifying any breakdowns or anomalies in the process, and taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Quality control and monitoring of all production processes, adhering to established process settings and consulting with the Production Manager with respect to any variances.
  • Logging of operational data to allow in depth process performance analysis and improvement.
  • Monitoring equipment reliability and performance, reporting variances and raising job requests as necessary to initiate corrective maintenance activity. Undertaking designated first-line maintenance tasks and recording their completion.
  • Housekeeping throughout the department, including completion of systematic housekeeping tasks and inspections, and the reporting and logging of findings, including escalation of issues as necessary.
  • Ensuring that operations and procedures comply with all Quality Control systems e.g. FEMAS, FSSC22000.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activity through the suggestion of possible improvements, participation in, and support of, focussed improvement teams.

Requirements for this role includes:   

  • At least three years’ experience in a high volume / speed manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Process Safety Management Foundations
  • Basic PC Skills: Email, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Basic user of computerised maintenance management systems
  • Ability to organize, coordinate and accomplish multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team (with both internal and external contacts)
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrated effective systematic problem solving skills
  • Organised with a high level of attention to detail
