Job description

Overall purpose of the role:
To lead the Company in project management of the development and delivery of transformational process improvements.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team developing projects from concept, through outline and detailed design and construction.

Although involved in the full NBD Project Lifecycle, the main responsibilities will be to lead and deliver on time, detailed design, projects EPC strategy, construction management, testing, certification and commissioning of strategic and complex projects on site.

Skills & Experience:

Background

A proactive and confident individual with extensive direct hands-on experience in the development and delivery of large process projects in a manufacturing environment, with some exposure to automation or process control systems.

Comfortable leading both small specialised teams and large multi-discipline teams of internal and external resource across a complex programme of activity over a sustained period of time.

Technical Experience

  • 10+ years (or demonstrable equivalent skills and experience) in project management experience in large infrastructure / process projects in water, wastewater or an FMCG environment.
  • Minimum Degree qualified in an engineering discipline.
  • Association for Project Management (APM) Member with ChPP status or capable of achieving this level <3 years.
  • Advanced PC Skills – Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc. with the ability to create project documentation to a high standard and skilled in report writing.
  • Significant knowledge of MS Project, P3 or similar project scheduling tools.
  • Experience working with multi-discipline EPC contractors.
  • Commercially aware with ability to set and manage project budgets and negotiate with consultants and contractors to achieve best value.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Excellent knowledge of current HSE legislation relating to construction, commissioning & operation within a process engineering environment, in particular CDM.
  • Experience of working in an environment where process safety solutions are paramount and able to participate and add value in solutions development - HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, etc.
  • IOSH Certificate in Process Safety Management – or ablility and willingness to work towards.

  • Excellent oral & written communication skills and able to demonstrate consistency and clarity at all times.

Main Responsibilities:

Leading the delivery of transformational process improvement projects activity across NBD production facilities to include the following;

1. Accountable for the Delivery of agreed projects/programmes in accordance with investment strategy, on time and within agreed budget.

2. Developing, implementing and maintaining a Project Execution Plan and EPC strategy for project/programme execution, working with colleagues to create appropriate contractual structures and procurement methodologies.

3. Developing an annual tactical Delivery programme of strategic/complex projects with detailed costs, milestone schedules and associated risk profiles.

4. Working with the Concept/Development/Automation Leads to design and implement process improvement solutions/projects, including the preparation of documentation to facilitate tendering and selection, project execution, testing, installation and commissioning activities.

5. Responsible for the provision of regular real time updates to PMO on Delivery phase to allow preparation of accurate and concise reporting on all project, programme and portfolio activities.

6. Responsible for ensuring that all aspects of work on projects is carried out in accordance with Company Health and Safety requirements, and in compliance with current legislation, maintaining a safe working environment for employees, contractors, visitors and the public at all times.

7. Maintaining an awareness of the regulatory and Company standards that apply to the role such as HMRC, COMAH and H&S. COMAH specific - Understand and act in accordance with the Site Emergency Response Plan in the event of an evacuation or major incident, and regularly participate in COMAH improvement activity.

8. Working as part of a team to ensure that all activities on site are carried out in accordance with the relevant work instruction, adhering to the necessary Company health, safety and environmental requirements and complying with all regulatory current legislation to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

9. Demonstrating adherence to internal and external business processes for identification, approval and implementation of process changes following agreed Management of Change methodologies.
