6-Month Fixed Term Contract with potential for extension, based at our Muirhall warehousing complex in West Calder

The North British Distillery currently has a fantastic opportunity for experienced warehouse operators to join our team in West Calder. Successful candidates will be assisting the Company with all warehousing and process activity associated with the safe and efficient filling, storing, removal and disgorging of all casks as required by the business.

Reporting to our Warehouse and Central Processing Unit (CPU) Team Leaders, main responsibilities will include:

  • Safety – ensuring your working area and behaviours are safe at all times with use of training and adherence to 5S principles.
  • Ensuring that all cask handling and associated activities on site are carried out in accordance with the relevant work instruction, adhering to the necessary Company health, safety and environmental requirements and complying with all regulatory current legislation to maintain a safe working environment for all employees – this includes COMAH and HMRC requirements.
  • Performing all aspects of cask preparation including filling, bonding in warehouses, removing from warehouses and disgorging, ensuring that storage and replenishment of casks are met with stock control/HMRC regulations
  • Operation of cask stackers, hand trucks, barrel hoists, cask lifts and the disgorging plant as and where required.
  • Driving forklift trucks, tractors, and operating cask handling equipment and carrying out pre use checks as standard.
  • Being available for any other duties trained for on site within the operator’s capabilities as directed.

Key skills and attributes required to be successful in this role:

  • Minimum 3 years' warehousing and maturation experience
  • Forklift and tractor licenses and qualifications
  • Experience of Continuous Improvement initiatives is desirable
  • Good working knowledge of HSE legislation
  • Good communication skills, with a customer-focused approach
  • Pays attention to detail and takes pride in delivering a professional standard of work.
