Warehouse Team Leader - 12-month Fixed Term Contract - West Calder

Full-time, 12-month fixed term contract (maternity cover) based at our Muirhall Warehousing Complex in West Calder

 

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Warehouse Team Leader to join our Muirhall Warehousing site on a 12-month fixed term contract basis for maternity cover. This role acts as the first line manager for the warehouse team, ensuring all bonding and warehousing tasks are carried out safely and efficiently and recorded to ensure legislative compliance as well as customer requirements.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring Safety is a priority at all times and lead by example safety behaviours. Investigating accidents and incidents and generating accident and incident reports where required.
  • Leading all cask handling, storage, movement and associated activities on site in accordance with the relevant work instructions, adhering to the necessary Company health, safety and environmental requirements and complying with current legislation to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Line management responsibility for all Warehouse Operators, monitoring progress through annual Performance Focus Reviews, daily target reviews, supporting training development, creating succession plans as appropriate and taking corrective action where required.
  • Ensuring effective communication and management of the warehousing team. Leading team based HR activities such employee interviews, including Return to Work, Absence Management Reviews and Disciplinaries, implementing the necessary actions and outcomes required.
  • Ensuring that all work instructions and risk assessments for the Warehouse Operation tasks are regularly reviewed with demonstrable process audits undertaken to evidence. Checking and assessing guarding on machinery in particular driving forklift trucks, tractors, and operating cask handling equipment as and where required.
  • Being prepared to support, upskill, cover and learn other key operational areas in the Central Processing Unit Operations and supporting Teamwork within the wider Operations team.

 

To be successful in this role, the following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

  • Working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Demonstrable experience in leading, developing, managing and motivating teams, as well as direct reports
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with direct reports and external contractors to ensure that all work is properly planned and coordinated
  • Experience of working on a COMAH site
